ROOMS AT WEHRBURG CASTLE: BEAUTIFUL AND AUTHENTIC

Our hotel has something to suit every taste, from rustic rooms in our two castle towers to cosy four-posters in our palace guest rooms. Come and sleep in one of our fairy-tale rooms in Wehrburg Castle. Perhaps the Barber of Wehrburg will even pay you a visit. It’s our job to make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible, so please let us know if you have any special requests or suggestions for improvement. Our staff would be delighted to assist you and we look forward to discussing your wishes with you personally. Because everyone deserves a little royal treatment.

  Our hotel has 23 rooms – three singles and 20 doubles – ranging from 15 to 47 square metres. Our single and double rooms are located in the castle towers and in the residential palace, with most of our rooms found in the extended palace building. They have a simple elegance with historic furnishings and medieval details. Most of the rooms are decorated with murals reminiscent of earlier times. Let yourself unwind as you get into character as a knight or a damsel.

Stay in a real castle tower

A stay in the castle tower rooms is sure to be a special experience for every first-time guest. Though many of our regular patrons also appreciate the charm and tranquillity of the other guest rooms. The smaller rooms are simply furnished and hold a special charm. Guest rooms in the 18m high towers are located across three floors and boast warm and stylish wood furnishings. These rooms can only be reached by spiral staircase. 

There are 70 steps in total to the top of the tower, so carrying baggage to your room requires a certain amount of physical stamina. Half way up there is a place to rest if you need it. Those who conquer the climb are rewarded with a feeling of peace and calm at the top. This is a place where you can recharge both body and soul. The stunning view from the tower windows furthermore ensures you will feel relaxed from the first moments of your holiday. Take in the view of the entire landscape from the tower.

Live like royalty in the castle palas

The long palas building holds larger rooms with historical furnishings. Some are outfitted with a historical ceramic stove. These rooms have easier accessibility and are therefore recommended for our less mobile guests. The palas is reached from the castle entrance over a covered, double staircase of stone. Authentic wooden ceilings, murals, chandeliers and stained glass windows convey a feeling of living in a real castle.

Enjoy relaxation and a slower pac


Holidays should, first and foremost, be a time to relax and recharge. Wehrburg Castle is just the place for switching off from daily stress or simply enjoying a place of serenity and nature. All of our rooms convey a feeling of genuine castle living. For this reason, they do not include certain conventional amenities such as air conditioning, televisions or mini bars to help you completely relax. Soon enough, you’ll no longer miss the TV, but rather appreciate the tranquillity, interesting conversation and gazing peacefully into the distance.

Our rooms vary in size and offer a variety of views. Category 1 rooms are our largest and include a renovated bathroom, wall murals and a view of the valley. Category 2 rooms are slightly smaller with a wonderful valley view, and category 3 rooms enjoy a view of the surrounding village of Prissian or the castle courtyard. €

Opening times: The hotel is open to guests from Easter to Halloween.

Wehrburg Castle is a place of tranquillity intended exclusively for our hotel guests.

For this reason, we do not offer public bar and restaurant services, but visitors are welcome to take a look around our garden.

2-3,9 years: we offer a 80% discount off the adult price

4-9 years: we offer a 60% discount off the adult price

Included services for our half board guests

  • Healthy breakfast buffet from 8am - 10am
  • 4 or 5-course gourmet evening menu with salad buffet (except Sundays when our chef takes a day off)

  • Free Wi-Fi in the rooms, castle courtyard, restaurants, outside and in the swimming pool area

Dinner is served daily (except Sundays) between 7pm and 7.30pm. Our dinner menu is served exclusively in our castle restaurant. There is a smart dress code to maintain a level of elegance throughout the hotel.

 

Children:

We are happy to cook child-friendly meals to cater for our younger guests. Please let us know if you have any preferences.

Important information – The fine print

  • Arrival and departure: Rooms are available from 2pm on the day of arrival until no later than 11am on the day of departure. Please let us know if your arrival will be after 7pm.
  • Visits from friends: You are welcome to invite friends to visit you during your stay (on request and based on availability). We charge €20 per person for breakfast and €35-45 per person for the evening menu.
  • Please be informed that our rooms are non-smoking. In the event of violation, we will apply a cleaning charge of €200.
  • Please let us know in good time if you have any allergies or preferences we should be aware of. Alterations or special requests are charged at €5 per day per person.
  • Our dinner menu is served exclusively in our castle restaurant where there is a smart dress code to maintain a level of elegance throughout the hotel. Dinner is served between 7pm and 7.30pm. Please let us know if your arrival will be after this time.
  • Local taxes: Prices are not inclusive of local tax and this will be added to your bill at the hotel (local tax €2,60 per night per person aged 14 and above).
  • Dogs: We are a dog-friendly hotel. Your four-legged friends are welcome here, but for hygiene reasons dogs are not allowed in the swimming pool or dining areas. Please bring a blanket or basket for your pet: our couches and beds are reserved for human guests only. An additional fee of €15 per day (not including food) applies for room cleaning. We also ask that out of respect for our other guests, dogs are always kept on a lead and all dog waste is properly disposed of. Thank you for your cooperation.
  • For single use of our double rooms a surcharge of 50% of the room price applies per day.
  • There is a surcharge of 15% for stays shorter than 3 nights.
  • Bookings are valid upon written communication from you by letter, fax or email and/or upon written confirmation by us.
  • Since 1 January 2023 the limit on cash payments in Italy has been raised to €4,999.99. The following methods of payment are accepted: debit card, credit card, non-transferable cheques, bank transfer.
  • Cancellation policy*:Cancellations are never nice – for guests or hosts. For this reason, we kindly ask you to inform us as soon as possible if you need to cancel your trip. Please be advised that the following charges apply:
    • - For cancellations up to 61 days prior to arrival there is no cancellation fee
    - Between 15 and 60 days prior to arrival we charge 50% of the booking value
    -Between 4 and 14 days prior to arrival we charge 80% of the booking value
    -For last-minute cancellations with 3 days’ notice or less or for late arrival/early departure, we charge 100% of the total cost per night (meals not consumed cannot be refunded).
    * This cancellation policy applies regardless of whether we are able to resell your room to other guests.
  • Payment: We accept payment by cash or EC Card, all major credit cards (except American Express and Diners). For cash payments (in Euros or Swiss Francs) we grant a discount of 2% on overnight and half board rates.
